“Just because your dad called the cops doesn’t mean that he doesn’t love you. ” – Dale
Number of Times Seen – 1 (29 Mar 2016)
Brief Synopsis – Once again, our boss haters are back and this time, they have decided to become their own bosses hoping that they can actually be great ones to their employees.
My Take on it – Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m pretty much an advocate for original movies instead of remakes and sequels dominating Hollywood.
This is yet another example of the reason why.
This movie is nowhere near as good as the original was and it feels as if they made this just to try and make money instead of trying to give us good entertainment for two hours.
Many of the jokes felt as if they were trying to see how much they could get away with doing and saying despite it being more raunchy instead of funny.
The movie feels more like a retread than any kind of original idea.
I still find it quite unnerving watching James T. Kirk in anything besides the new Star Trek series. 🙂 Chris Pine is a great actor (and does a nice job here) , but in my mind (for better or for worse), he has been typecast as Kirk.
Christoph Waltz is also pretty good here.
Unfortunately, neither of them can raise the level of this silly plot to help get out of the rut it falls into.
Bottom Line – Typical sequel. Not nearly as good as the original. Seems as if they were trying to see how far they could go with some of the jokes and it loses it’s humor along the way. Nice efforts by Pine and Waltz, but neither helps this movie enough to get out of its rut.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Sudeikis stated in an interview that they wanted to put a gag in the film, where Jamie Fox’s character says to Nick, Kurt, and Dale, “You crackers got to go. I have three other crackers coming in,” and as the trio get up to leave, the three characters from The Hangover movies would come in and sit at the booth. They finally decided against it, because it would take the audience out of the movie. Zack Galifianakis and Ed Helms (Alan and Stu from the Hangover Films) later heard about this and thought the idea was hilarious. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy

Does the ‘H’ stand for honest or humble? I read it as humble but now I’m thinking….honest?
