“An attitude like that definitely isn’t gonna get me an Oscar.” – Mike
Number of Times Seen – 1 (30 Mar 2016)
Brief Synopsis – A struggling actor must change his ethnicity during each and every audition.
My Take on it – Most of us know Vin Diesel as an action hero, but this short film by him actually shows his full range of diversity in so many different ways.
He plays a character who must constantly change himself in order to try and win different kinds of acting jobs.
When he is told that he isn’t ethnical enough for a certain part, he changes himself in order to conform to what they will probably be seeking.
He does a few different ethnicities here and he does each of them quite convincingly so that the audience can really believe that he is of that race or background.
I’ve heard before about actors and monologues needed for auditions and this movie takes that to another level and Diesel delivers some really great and emotional monologues here.
Bottom Line – Very good short film that shows the difficulties actors have when they must constantly audition for any type of media that they wish to partake in. Diesel does a great job portraying each of these diverse ethnicities and it’s quite easy to believe that they are each real in their own way. Loved the use of monologues here. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Diesel’s performance caught the eye of director Steven Spielberg, who contacted him about performing in Saving Private Ryan (1998), launching Diesel’s feature film career. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy
