Brief Synopsis – Biography of the man who was able to beat Babe Ruth’s long standing Home Run record.

My Take on it – As a kid growing up on baseball, I always loved hearing about the greats and Hank Aaron was always among them in my book.

I have always been amazed that there has never been a biopic movie made about him because his story has always been so intriguing.

In a days following integration he still was harassed by fans and players due to his color, but he persevered and didn’t let it stop him from his quest for glory.

What Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds did relatively quickly due to their yearly home run totals, he was able to do over a longer career due to his continued above average homer success over the years.  It’s amazing that he reached this feat without ever hitting 50 homers in a season.

He truly is a sports hero who beat the odds and came out on top.

Bottom Line – Very good documentary about a fearless man who was able to beat the odds and overtake a record everyone thought would stand forever.  He also battled against prejudice his whole life on and off the field.  Still surprised that a movie has never been made about his life because it is really a triumphant story. Recommended!
