“Forced” Movie #4 – It Follows (2014)

This is the fourth of 12 films that I was “forced” to watch by my fellow bloggers who participated in my Blogiversary Contest last month.  This movie was chosen by Darren.  Tnx for the suggestion.  Let’s see what I thought of it….

Number of Times Seen – 1 (16 May 2016)

Brief Synopsis – After sleeping with a local boy, a teenager begins to gave a murderous creature follow her and must decide to whom to transfer the ‘curse’ to in order to feel safe.

My Take on it – As most of you probably already know, one if my two main genre dislikes in movies are horror films.

For that reason, Darren decided to force me to watch one of his recent favorites in order to try and get me to start to appreciate the genre more.

His plan didn’t work.

Despite appreciating and understanding why horror fans would like this, I personally found nothing of worth in this film.

The premise of an STD that manifests itself as a murderous ghostly stalker of the infected person is actually an interesting one but the way this all played out was quite silly in my eyes.

Thankfully it wasn’t at all scary but I just wanted it all to end and didn’t quite care what would happen to any of the characters.

Bottom Line – Basically a film about a horror STD. Not the kind of film I would normally like because of not being a fan of the genre. On the other hand, it is a clever idea that I can appreciate how fans of the horror genre could be enthralled by. For me unfortunately it was a waste of time.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The time frame of the movie is intentionally kept ambiguous so that it resembles a dream. Some of the cars shown are from more recent times. Many appear to be from the ’60s to late ’80s. Early CRT television sets are shown whenever the characters are watching movies. Conflicting technology include Yara on a device that looks like a shell compact, but she reads from it like an e-book reader and using it as a light source at one point. Also, the girl from the beginning of the film uses a cellphone and drives a modern automobile, with several modern vehicles in view. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy

  1. I tried lol, the way I look at it was the ‘it’ represented an attacker and our girl was like a rape victim always having that moment following her never having a true moment to get away from the attack.
