This is the eleventh of 12 films that I was “forced” to watch by my fellow bloggers who participated in my Blogiversary Contest last month. This movie was the 4th one chosen by the winner SG. Tnx for the suggestion. Let’s see what I thought of it….

“The earth speaks to all of us, and if we listen, we can understand.” – Uncle Pomme
Number of Times Seen – 1 (18 May 2016)
Brief Synopsis – A young orphan boy tries to help a lost girl find the magical home she was kidnapped from.
My Take on it – I have never been s fan of Japanese animation smd generally prefer Disney or Pixar to Studio Ghibli.
Of the few that I’ve seen though, this was the most fun to watch.
I liked the way the stiry was struxtuted and the characters were engaging to watch in order to see what they would do.
This is an all out adventure film and it is filled with so many different elements that make it fun to watch.
We get humorous dialogue, thrills, near escapes and even a budding romance thrown in for good measure.
I think part of my dislike for the GHibli movies is the animation style itself because it isn’t crisp and clear like American style.
Far from perfect but still enjoyable to watch.
Bottom Line – Never been the biggest fan of Studio Ghibli, but I liked this story here. It was a fun adventure that has thrills, some humorous dialogue and even a budding romance story all wrapped in one. Not perfect but my favorite Ghibli film so far. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Laputa the flying island was a setting in Jonathan Swift‘s novel Gulliver’s Travels, published in 1726. Hayao Miyazaki says in interviews that he was unaware that “la puta” means “the whore” in Spanish. If he had been aware of the translation, he would not have used it as a title. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy

What is it about Pixar / Disney that you prefer (generally) over Studio Ghibli? Just the animation?
I liked this one a lot but I like them all a lot lol.

Hooray, at least it was enjoyable! I agree this is the anime I find the most fun to watch just for the adventure. The animation has gotten crisper in more recent years, but I think this is Ghibli’s best fantasy.
