“Remember, Cobra’s a snake, and “snake” is “sneak” spelled sideways. ” – Flint
Number of Times Seen – At least 3-5 times (TV in the 80’s and 5 Jun 2016)
Brief Synopsis – The Joes must once again try and stop Cobra from terrorizing the world when they get ahold of a device that can alter the weather.
My Take on it – I was a bit surprised to see that this miniseries felt like a carpon copy of the previous miniseries that aired one year earlier.
The main differences between them were the main terror devices used by the enemy and the choice of which characters to highlight but the stories feel quite similar.
As a kid, I loved this tv show because I was very much into all things army or military and I’m sure it had a strong influence on my choice to eventually join the military.
This second miniseries proved the popularity of G.I. Joe and subsequently they approved a full season of over 60 episodes which each also ended up including important safety messages for kids that made the catchphrase “… and knowing is half the battle.” so well known.
Like most cartoons of the 80’s, this is geared solely towards kids and there isn’t much for adults to find here
Bottom Line – Too similar in story and plot to the previous miniseries just with slightly different characters being highlighted. Nostalgic but also isn’t really interesting enough for adults and is solely geared towards children. Based on this miniseries, they launched the TV show which was a staple of my youth.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – This mini-series marks the first appearance of Cobra Commander in his ceremonial hood. In the comics, he has worn the hood since the first issue of the Marvel series. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
