Brief Synopsis – A man thinks of a foolproof way to kill his wife until something changes everything and he must use a new plan.

My Take on it – Surprisingly, I haven’t seen a s many Hitchcock films as one would expect someone like me should.

I am so glad that I finally saw this one because it really is such a gripping tale told nearly perfectly.

The writing is superb and it is all carried out so cleverly.

It develops the characters just enough for us to use that information when confronted with the entire mystery.

The dialogue is superbly written and is crisp almost the entire time; we can feel the zingers hitting their mark almost every time.

The cast is great with Grace Kelly, Ray Milland, and Robert Cummins playing the main characters.

The addition of John Williams as the inspector investigating the crime was great because he truly steals every scene that he appears in.

It’s not much if a wonder that he won a Tony Award for playing the same role on Broadway a few years earlier.

As I have yet to see them all, I still believe that this film is one of Hitchcock’s best because it hits its mark on so many levels.

Bottom Line – Absolutely adored this Hitchcock thriller because it’s so cleverly written and executed. The characters are developed well enough for us to know who and what they are. The dialogue is crisp and shot at us with rapid fire precision hitting its mark every time. Excellent cast but John Williams steals every scene he’s in as the police inspector. Its no wonder he won a Tony award for this role. One of Hitchcock’s best IMHO. Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – During the attack scene according to the script, Grace Kelly was to get out of bed, put her robe on, and answer the phone when it rang. Grace Kelly contended that no woman, being at home, would put a robe on to answer the phone. Alfred Hitchcock agreed, and so the scene was shot with her in her nightgown. (From IMDB)
