Number of Times Seen – 2 (17 Jan 2005 and 10 Aug 2016)
Brief Synopsis – A former FBI agent who just underwent a heart transplant tries to capture a serial killer who apparently also murdered the woman whose heart he received.
My Take on it – I have always enjoyed Clint Eastwood’s choices in movies to act in because despite being a staple in films for over 50 years, he constantly continues to choose age appropriate characters to play as he has gotten older.
In this film, he plays a retired FBI agent and is no longer the youthful law officer that he was thirty years earlier as Dirty Harry, but he still does a fine job of making it all seem believable.
I usually not the biggest fan of movie adaptations of great books, but after having read this book by Michael Connelly more than fifteen years ago, I recall enjoying the twists and turns within quite a lot and this film feels like a very worthy adaptation of the book.
They have some clever ideas along the way and they do a great job of keeping us guessing until the very end.
The supporting cast is quite good here with Jeff Daniels, Paul Rodriguez, Anjelica Huston, Dylan Walsh, Glenn Morshower and Tina Lifford all portraying great characters.
Each of the characters are given ample development and we can understand a lot of how they each think and act throughout the film.
This gives the story an even more realistic spin to it and it’s fun to watch things unfold.
Bottom Line – A worthy adaptation of the Connelly book. Keeps you guessing the whole time and has some clever twists and turns along the way. Eastwood once again chooses an age appropriate character who we can still root for despite him no longer being Dirty Harry. Great supporting cast helps make this even better. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Famous for playing Dirty Harry and sometimes other cops, portraying an FBI profiler in this movie, this is the final cop film of Clint Eastwood where he plays some form of detective. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy
