Firewall (2006)

firewall“You do anything to her or my children and you don’t get a dime. ” – Jack

Number of Times Seen – 2 (17 Aug 2006 and 11 Aug 2016)

Brief Synopsis – A corporate security executive is forced to rob his company after mysterious men kidnap his wife and children.

My Take on it – I saw this film about a decade ago and since I didn’t remember it much, I thought it would be a great time to revisit it.

As always, Harrison Ford does a great job here making us believe his portrayal of the character.

The twists and turns in the story work quite well and they keep the viewer on the edge of their seat the whole time.

Bettany is quite menacing as the bad guy and is utilized quite well.

Virginia Madsen, on the other hand, is completely underused here which is quite a shame because she is a much more talented actress that one would believe watching her in this film.

All in all, this is a fun thriller to watch, but it probably wouldn’t be as good if you knew what was gonna happen so clearly in your mind.

I suggest that you watch it every decade or so, because that seemed to work for me since I found it enjoyable. 🙂

Bottom Line – Ford is great here as always. Liked some of the twists and turns here in the story that help keep you on the edge of your seat despite some glaring plot holes.  Bettany is quite menacing as the bad guy.  Madsen should have been better utilized because she is a much better actress than we get to see here.  Not a film that can be watched over and over, but still a nice thriller to watch every decade or so when it isn’t fresh in your mind. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – While filming at the Vancouver International Airport, the set was ready for Harrison Ford but he was nowhere to be found. The Assistant Directors went into a frenzy getting all the crew to look for him. He was soon found sitting on the baggage conveyor immediately outside the set going round and round while talking on his cell.  (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy

  1. I like the way you present he film in a very light hearted way. It does sound like a fun thriller and I am always looking for hose. Was Harrison in his sprightly years or was he kind of spaced? I noticed in Regarding Henry and some stuff after that it almost isn’t the same actor.
