Number of Times Seen – 1 (20 Sep 2016)
Brief Synopsis – A rookie pitcher encounters struggles and tries to figure out what is stopping him from not getting stressed out during his games.
My Take on it – I’ve always been a big baseball fan and love watching movies featuring the All American Past-time.
I was quite excited when I saw that this movie featured both Ethan Hawke and Paul Giamatti because I’m a fan of their work over the years.
Unfortunately, this film is really all over the place and makes little sense.
The ideas actually feel like a baseball metaphor because like the wild pitches this rookie thorws, you never know where the ideas will land and they come out of nowhere.
This movie tries a bit too hard to be a very cerebral type of Baseball film and strikes out most of the time.
I’m still very perplexed that both Giamatti and Hawke took part in this film, maybe they understand something I didn’t…
Bottom Line -Really weird film that just like the pitches thrown are all over the place and you never know where they will land. Tries too hard to be a cerebral baseball movie and just misses every attempted swing along the way. Have always loved the work of Giamatti and Hawke, but am slightly baffled that they signed on to this strange movie.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Coincidentally, Paul Giamatti’s Dad was a very important figure in Baseball….Angelo Bartlett Giamatti was Commissioner of Major League Baseball. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy
