Number of Times Seen – 1 (22 Sep 2016)
Brief Synopsis – A group of female scientists try to stop ghosts from overtaking New York City
My Take on it – Yes, I a a fan of the original series, but I usually deplore remakes, and reboots because they are usually quite superfluous.
This film is a prime example of that.
I do give them, credit for trying to make a film like this with female characters, but it’s really unfortunate that the story is just really bad and doesn’t do justice to the franchise.
All of the actresses here are fine comedians, but the jokes here just aren’t funny enough and won’t be as iconic as everyone expected this to be.
I tip my hat to the actors from the original films who made the effort to appear here in cameos except I really would have preferred if they had played their old characters and found a way to sort of pass the baton off to these ladies.
Let’s hope that they don’t try to make more of these films because if someone wants to see a really good version of this kind of film, they can rent, download, buy or even stream a copy of the original movie.
There really was no need to make this film…
Bottom Line – Totally wasted storyline because the remake just doesn’t do the franchise name justice. The actresses are find here, but it’s just not as funny as they keep trying to be. Liked the cameos of the original actors, but I would have preferred some kind of baton handing scene instead of them all being totally different characters. Really hope they don’t make any more of these.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – At one point in the movie, Holtzmann says “they are heavier than you think” with regards to the proton packs. During the filming of the first two original Ghostbuster movies, the actors often complained about the weight of the proton packs. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy
