For this month’s sixth Toptober Tens, Here are my Top Ten Favorite Musical Adaptation films.
Many stage musicals are reworked for the screen and many of them have vied for the top spot come Oscar night.
The list of film adaptations is vast, and it wasn’t easy to choose only ten, but I somehow managed.
Keep in mind, that these are all solely my opinion and part of what I would like to do is open conversation and dialogue between us all over the choices in these lists
10. Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (1954)
9. My Fair Lady (1964)
8. Mary Poppins (1964)
7. 1776 (1972)
5. The Sound of Music (1965)
4. West Side Story (1961)
3. Beauty and the Beast (1991)
2. Les Miserables (2012)
- Fiddler on the Roof (1971)

An amazing list! I’d probably swap out Evita for West Side Story (I’m not as big a fan as most), but these are all great choices.

I love the music of evita but always feel something slightly missing with the storytelling aspects

I would go with Julie Andrews’ films, Mary Poppins probably being the best one. I think. I do love West Side Story and Sound of Music too. I used to be big time musicals fan but these days I find them a bit too much. 😀
