Storks (2016)

storks“[takes the baby] Don’t worry, she’s with penguins! There are whole documentaries about how great they are at baby-sitting! [Cut to documentary clip of penguin sitting on an egg; a walrus rises up from the water and eats the penguin, leaving the egg]” – Hunter

Number of Times Seen – 1 (20 Oct 2016)

Brief Synopsis – After years of delivering packages instead of babies, the most talented stork must find a way to correct an error and deliver a new baby before he inherits the company.

My Take on it – The trailer and commercials for this movie make it seem much more entertaining than it really is.

Pixar and Disney have risen the bar for quality animation so high that anything less seems too mediocre.

The voice cast is very talented but without a better story and script there isn’t much even the likes of Andy Samberg or Kelsey Grammer can do to make things better.

The story seems very standard and it feels as if they just are trying to reach standard points in the story rather then making things wow us with pleasure.

The one thing I can attest to is the fact that both my 9 year old son and 4 year old daughter enjoyed it.

That has much more to do tho with the fact that it was made solely to entertain kids and wasn’t multi layered like Disney and Pixar films which are geared towards kids and adults alike.

Bottom Line – Not as entertaining as I had expected given the cast. They do an average job in all other departments which is a bit disappointing. The story is mediocre and seems to just be trying to hit the expected points instead of trying to wow us. At least my kids enjoyed it more than I did.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Ty Burell’s character, Mr. Gardener, is a real estate agent. His character Phil Dumphy (Modern Family) is also a real estate agent. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy
