Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)

Number of Times Seen – 1 (25 Oct 2016)

Brief Synopsis – After somehow ending up in a parallel universe, The Flash must race against time to figure out how he got there before the whole world is destroyed by two formerly good superheroes.

My Take on it – Being a fan of time travel, time displacement and alternate reality films, this was a fun movie for me to watch.

The premise works really well and despite it still not being as interesting to me as the Armageddon 2001 comic, Flashpoint works really well.

Loved seeing how superheroes would react in an alternate reality where things were slightly changed and therefore left them with heroically different lives.

Each evolves in their own unique way that leads them on a slightly skewed path from the reality we know and love.

I’ve always been a fan of the whole Butterfly Effect phenomena and with this story, we are taken to some interesting (and even dark) places with that theory.

Having not read the comic series that this film is based on, I can’t say which is better, but my assumption is that there they are able to expand on so much more and give us an even deeper meaning to the whole storyline than they are able to here with about 80 minutes of storytelling time.

Also loved the way that they kept the whole idea of memories intact for the Flash and even he began to wonder what is the real reality and what is the alternate one.

Bottom Line – Really enjoyed the premise and it was fun watching how superheroes would react and evolve in a different world. Big fan of the whole butterfly effect phenomena and this movie takes that to interesting places. Haven’t read the comic but would be quite interested to see where they take things there. Recommended!
