kubo“If you must blink, do it now. ” – Kubo

Number of Times Seen – 1 (16 Nov 2016)

Brief Synopsis – A young boy must go on an adventure to find three magical items that belonged to his father in order to fight and defeat his evil grandfather.

My Take on it – I heard about this film months ago and was quite interested in seeing it due to the rave reviews it received.

The story is quite original and unique and keeps us enthralled throughout.

The characters are both fun and interesting to watch as the adventure moves forward.

The way they need to seek and overcome obstacles on their quest for the magical items is great and thrilling.

The animation is superb and they are able to do some amazing things due to the proper use of the tools of the trade.

I especially loved the use of the origami papers in such fantastical ways.

I really enjoyed the voice cast and they all do a fine job here.

I’ve never been the biggest fan of Stop Motion animation in the past, but they were able to convince me here that I need to give these kind of films more of a chance… especially if they make more like this one!

Bottom Line – Great original and unique adventure story.  Has some great new characters that are fun to watch as they endeavor on a quest for the magic items.  Voice cast works extremely well.  The animation is superb and they do so much with it which takes us on a very magical ride. Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – At 1 hour and 41 minutes long, this is the longest stop-motion film to date, beating out Coraline (2009) by a minute, which was also from Laika Studios. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy
