Brief Synopsis – After a man and woman meet under strange circumstances, they begin to wonder whether they are meant to be together.

My Take on it – I have always loved this film because it’s not your conventional rom-com.

They add in so many questions about how much we are in control of our actions and how much is decided by fate.

The question also remains as to whether we are given clues along the way as we try to move through the maze of life.

John Cusack and Kate Beckingsale are amazing as the leads here and the chemistry that they have together is quite magical that we constantly root for them no matter what obstacles keep being thrown in their way.

Jeremy Piven and molly Shannon are perfect as the best friends of the leads because they are able to give us more insight into the personalities of these two characters via their friendships which makes us want them to get together in the end even moreso.

The soundtrack is great and there are some songs here that I can listen to over and over like Waiting in Vain, When You Know and The Distance.

Bottom Line – Great rom-com that really asks the question of whether love is chosen by fate or if there is something out there guiding us all by hints and clues.  Beckingsale and Cusack have great chemistry together and this makes you want to root for them throughout the entire maze of a plot.  The two supporting characters played by Piven and Shannon are great because they help us understand the leads much more via their friendships with them. Excellent soundtrack. Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia –  During filming of this movie in NYC, the following note was posted on a production trailer: “Yes, we are filming a movie. It is called ‘Serendipity’. It stars John Cusack and some girl from Britain that you wouldn’t know – even if we told you her name. We will be shooting tonight until midmorning. Please don’t ask the crew any questions. Even if they don’t look like they are working, they are thinking.” (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (no change from original review)
