Number of Times Seen – 1 (19 Dec 2016)
Brief Synopsis – Comedy about what happens when a family gets together for a funeral when dark secrets, hallucinatory drugs and old grudges all surface during the course of the day.
My Take on it – This is a film that I probably wouldn’t have even considered watching since I’m not the biggest fan of British comedy, but I was extremely surprised that it was so funny.
They do a wonderful job of showing what could happen when family gets together and things slowly begin to get out of hand.
Frank Oz, does a great job of directing this film and it all really seems to fit in so well the whole way through.
The cast is superb and they all get the comedic cues just right which makes things work so well.
Peter Dinklage is amazing here and even his facial expressions work very well that I couldn’t stop laughing.
THey even get characters to say and do things that you would never expect which was great to see!
Bottom Line – Hilariously done film that really shows how things can easily get out of hand when family gets together. Great cast helps make this so much fun. I’m usually not the biggest fan of British humor, but this one was done so well that it really hit the mark so many times. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Frank Oz once said that it was impossible to make Peter Vaughan laugh on the set because he was so deeply into the crotchety character of Uncle Alfie. He was the only principal actor to refrain from “corpsing” throughout, thus there was no footage of Peter cracking up to use for the closing credit montage. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy
