Brief Synopsis – As an extended family gathers for a funeral, a mysterious stranger with a dark secret shows up causing all kinds of trouble.
My Take on it – This is a film that I saw a little over a month ago, but wanted to watch again with my wife so she could also experience the hilarious story presented to us.
The concept itself is so funny and it works on so many different levels.
The cast is superb with Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Danny Glover, Peter Dinklage, Zoe Saldana, Ron Glass, Martin Lawrence, Loretta Devine, Keith David, Regina Hall, Luke Wilson, Names Marsden and Kevin Hart all giving hilarious performances.
The fact that the cast is a mix of comedic and serious actors working together makes this even funnier because everyone of them has great timing so the jokes all work.
It doesn’t matter how many times you may have seen this, because the jokes are hilarious every time and my wife and I were rolling on the floor laughing at some of the jokes here.
This is one of the very few remakes that is so much funnier and better than the original
Bottom Line – Hilarious concept that works on so many levels and is a non-stop laughfest. Amazing cast of comedians (and also serious actors) helps make this film so much fun. Even after having seen this film a few times, it’s still got everything needed to keep you rolling on the floor with laughter. One of the few remakes that is even better than the original. Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In the original Death at a Funeral (2007) screenplay, the character that Peter Dinklage ended up playing was of average height and not written as an Achondroplasic dwarf; the character was changed for him after he auditioned and was cast. He then became the only actor to reprise his role in this remake. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy (no change from original review)
