City Slickers in Westworld (2017)

“The One Thing is this!”  [pulls out a revolver and shoots Phil] – Mitch

Number of Times Seen – 1 (7 Mar 2017)

Brief Synopsis – Mitch and Phil of City Slickers fame find themselves in the world of WestWorld.

My Take on it – Being a fan of both City Slickers (1991) and the TV show WestWorld, I was quite excited to see what they planned to give us here when they merged the two into one storyline.

The truth is, my original thoughts of having Mitch and Phil vacation in WestWorld was immediately shot down when they reveal to us the main idea here.

This film is such a clever idea and the whole concept really reminded me of what MAD Magazine use to do back in the 80’s which would give us an opportunity to see characters from one medium interact with different characters from a completely different medium.

It was great to see Billy Crystal and Daniel Stern return for this and it’s too bad Bruno Kirby is no longer with us because then it would have been even better if all three were seen together here.

The inclusion of Crystal and Stern helps make this so funny yet still gives us so much to think about when pondering the plotlines of both stories.

Check it out here:

Bottom Line – Such a clever idea that work extremely well.  Reminded me of the way MAD Magazine use to mesh together two different stories to create a whole new way of looking at the characters and situations.  Amazing cast led by Crystal and Stern helps to inject the story with lots of humor, but also lots of “food for thought.” Highly Recommended!
