The LEGO Batman Movie (2017)

“Wait a minute. Bruce Wayne is Batman… ‘s roommate? ” – The Joker

Number of Times Seen – 1 (13 Mar 2017)

Brief Synopsis – AS the Joker bands together all of Batman’s enemies together in order to take over Gotham, Batman must also deal with taking a young orphan under his wing.

My Take on it – I have always been a huge fan of superhero movies and I have especially enjoyed the different incarnations of Batman over the past 50+ years.

This film takes all of those different uses of the characters and perfectly parody and satire each and every one of them giving us such a fun Batman movie that doesn’t need to take itself seriously at all.

The voice cast is superb here and there are so many famous voices here that it’s extremely fun trying to guess all of the names that go with all the voices.

Will Arnett, Rosario Dawson, Michael Cera, Ralph Fiennes, Zack Galifinakis lead the all-star voice cast that keep surprising over and over.

The jokes here are all really funny and I couldn’t stop laughing through most of them.

What’s great is that to understand and ‘get’ most of the jokes, one doesn’t need to necessarily be a fan of the the superhero genre or of the Batman franchise itself but….  it definitely doesn’t hurt.

Can’t wait to see this film again and laugh at it all over again!

Bottom Line – Hilariously done because it perfectly parodies and satirizes all of the previous Batman incarnations.  Great voice cast helps make this so interesting to watch and try and guess who voices which characters.  The jokes all work really well and you don’t need to be a fan of the franchise to appreciate them all… but it definitely helps.  Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – While most of the villains are based on their comic book appearances, some resemble their live action movie counterparts. The Penguin resembles Danny DeVito from Batman Returns (1992), Poison Ivy resembles Uma Thurman from Batman and Robin (1997), Bane wears a brown and white parka, a staple of Tom Hardy’s portrayal in The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and Two-Face resembles Tommy Lee Jones from Batman (1989), as well as being voiced by him. Rating – Oscar Worthy
