Movies From the Hat V #27 – Luke’s Pick – Nina Forever (2015)

This is my 2976th Review

Thanks to Luke of Oracle of Film for this recommendation.

Here are his thoughts on the film.

“Oh God, not again.” – Nina

Number of Times Seen – 1 (22 Mar 2017)

Brief Synopsis – A man is visited by his dead ex girlfriend whenever he gets intimate with his new girlfriend.

My Take on it – For the past few years, I have been a big fan of the TV show The Walking Dead and have gotten quite used to watching films dealing with the undead.

Usually, they involve some kind of apocalyptic event and the undead have no real emotional or real attachment while trying to devour those left among the living.

This film was an interesting change of pace because it deals with only one undead character and her goal is not to devour the main characters, but actually make them think about their own previous relationships.

This is a clever idea to use as a metaphor for dealing with past failed relationships and it does have it’s moments here and there.

Unfortunately, the themes are a bit too dark and as much as I wanted to enjoy this film more, I just didn’t find it that groundbreaking as I had hoped it would be.

Bottom Line – Interesting way to show how one deals with living with the knowledge of a past relationship that ended by tragedy. The themes are quite dark and despite the film having it’s moments, it really isn’t groundbreaking at all.  Being used to the way that Zombie movies and TV shows portray the undead, this was definitely a change of pace for me, but overall, this was just an ok film.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The fake blood used got so sticky the sheets would stick to the actors while filming. They solved the problem by adding lube to the fake blood. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy
