This is my 2998th Review

Thanks to Jonathan of Robbins Realm for this recommendation.

“Unless the world learns the lesson these pictures teach, night will fall… but by God’s grace, we who live will learn. ” – Narrator

Number of Times Seen – 1 (29 Mar 2017)

Brief Synopsis – Documentary that explains what happened to the film footage shot by the Allied troops during the liberation of the Nazi Concentration Camps in 1945.

My Take on it – This is probably my favorite new film that I watched for this series..  I absolutely loved it because it was so gripping and informative.

I was mesmerized by this documentary right from the start because of how real and gripping it is.

They do an excellent job trying to explain why such important documentary footage was seemingly lost for over 70 years and we now know how important this film footage really is for the world to be able to view.

The interviews here are amazing because they were somehow able to track down so many important figures dealing with this footage both in front of and behind the camera.

This, in and of itself is an amazing feat since it has been 70+ years since this footage was originally shot.

The footage shown here is quite graphic and raw and there is some very disturbing pictures shown, yet it is further proof to the world as to what happened in Germany during World War II.

It is also a lesson for the world to be able to remember it all lest we doom ourselves to allow such atrocities to occur once again in the future.

Really loved how they show the different methods and directions that the British and Americans took when debating how to deal with this film footage.

This is now among my favorites films from 2014 and will be slotted in at #6

Bottom Line – Such an amazing documentary because it tries to explain how and why such an important film took 70 years to be shown to the public.  The interviews are quite gripping and the fact that they were able to still find so many people still alive to discuss their roles in the history is unbelievable.  The footage is raw yet is further proof to the world as to what happened 70+ years ago. Highly Recommended!
