“I have known Pippa Lee for 25 years and I think that I will really ever know her. She is a mystery… an enigma… giving, caring, beautiful, intelligent… the very icon of an artist’s wife. ” – Sam
Number of Times Seen – 1 (7 May 2017)
Brief Synopsis – A woman going through a midlife crisis thinks back to how she got to where she is.
My Take on it – This is a film that I had never even heard of before Catherine suggested it and I was quite intrigued when I saw the long list of famous cast members.
Having a cast with Robin Wright Penn, Alan Arkin, Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, Mike Bender, Maria Bello, Shirley Knight, Blake Lively, Julianne Moore and Monica Bellucci is quite impressive except most of them are completely wasted here.
Unfortunately, the script isn’t interesting enough and therefore it became a chore to watch these famous people babble along instead of caring about what they do or say.
It seems to me like they try too hard to make this film feel like an epic and historic kind of story yet it flails around too much instead of staying focused enough for us to keep interest.
The characters are all extremely diverse yet since most are not developed well enough it’s very difficult to actually care about them.
Bottom Line – Great cast led by Wright-Penn but the story just isn’t interesting enough to want to follow. Tries too hard to feel like an epic story when it doesn’t even come close to that. The characters are all very diverse but none of them are developed well enough for us to actually care much about them.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Julianne Moore only spent 2 days filming her role. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy
