LEGO Star Wars: The Quest for R2-D2 (2009)

Number of Times Seen – 1 (14 Jun 2017)

Brief Synopsis – After R2-D2 is lost during a mission, Anakin and the Empire try to recover the missing droid who has secret plans in his memory.

My Take on it – This is the third Lego Star Wars film that I’ve seen recently and despite it not being as good as the previous two, this still has its moments.

They perfectly get the essence of Star Wars down right and for fans of the series like me, there is so much to notice because the references to the series come every second (literally).

The story doesn’t flow so well, but that doesn’t matter much because these films aren’t really made for the coherent plots but rather for the way they parody and reference the Star Wars series.

Besides references to Star Wars, we get some great references to some other LucasFilm products which is fun to try and spot.

The best part about these films is the fact that it can easily be seen how much love and affection the makers have for the series because they get so much right when parodying so many of the Star Wars films.

Bottom Line – Not as good as some of the other Lego Star Wars films that I’ve recently seen but it still gets the essence of Star Wars and has lots of fun references to both this series and other LucasFilm products.  The story jumps around a lot and isn’t a really coherent storyline yet it’s still has it’s moments.  It’s easy to see how much the makers of these films really love the Star Wars series and they parody things so well. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – A LEGO version of Indiana Jones can be seen briefly during the garage sale scene (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy
