Brief Synopsis – Jason Bourne returns again once again trying to reclaim the memories of his life

My Take on it – This is quite a disappointing addition to the series.

Coming back to the original story after nearly a decade was a mistake eventhough it does reunite star Matt Damon with Director Paul Greengrass.

They know how to create nice and thrilling action scenes, but the story itself leaves things lacking.

Damon has gotten to be too old to continue with this role and I think they should stop making films with him in this role eventhough we still haven’t gotten complete closure on his character’s true origin.

Bottom Line – Somewhat disappointing chapter in the series eventhough it reunited Damon with Greengrass. The action scenes are done quite well, but the story itself leaves much to be desired. Damon is getting a bit too old for this role, and should definitely stop at this point eventhough the character doesn’t yet have full closure on his own origin.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia –  This movie shows us that David Webb was previously a Captain in the U.S. Army 1st Special Forces Delta (1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta , “1st SFOD-Delta”), otherwise known as the Delta Force. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (no change from original review)

  1. I agree that #4 starring Damon as Bourne might not be quite on a par with his previous 3, but it certainly is NOT because Damon is “too old” to play the role. Judging by the opening bare knuckle fight sequence – I’d like to see you say that to his face. His depiction of JB still rings true for me, and your remark could be taken as rather sexist (I doubt you’d EVER say something like that about Angelina Jolie or Charlize Theron or some other actress playing an action role) and Tom Cruise – who’s older than Damon – and still cranking out Mission Impossible movies and doing The Mummy etc. – you wanna tell him that he should hang up his action spurs as well? Stallone’s in his 70s and still doing his “Expendables” series. If Damon’s age is your barometer – it’s not a fair one.

I thought using Nicky’s character to break into the computer logs – find the final pieces – and pass them on to Bourne – at great jeopardy to her own life – was a terrific device – and his orchestrating their getaway through the protest filled streets was a heart pounder – with the relentless assassin hot on their tail. Some of the side plotting with the internet millionaire was a bit distracting – but it did lead up to a 400 car demoltion derby on the Vegas strip which was a whirlwind.

I clearly liked this one better than you did.
