Number of Times Seen – 2 (21 Dec 2008 and 8 Aug 2017)
Brief Synopsis – A lonely aspiring screenwriter puts out an ad on Craig’s list so he wouldn’t need to be alone on New Years Eve.
My Take on it – This is a great film to watch because it deals with a subject matter that most people can relate to and they chose to make it all seem so realistic the entire way through.
The low budget style that this movie was filmed in actually helps make it seem even more real than if it would have been done in a more conventional way.
The documentary style black and white is perfect to tell such a tale.
The dialogue is superbly written and it helps make the characters more interesting as things progress at a great pace.
The ideas presented here are great because most people question the why and the how of seeking love via a soul mate.
No on e wants to be alone in the end and that constantly helps us strive to find someone else to be close to.
Sometimes these connections are for the better and sometimes for the worse.
The actors in this film are mostly unknowns which also helps with the realism, but it’s really unfortunate that most of them haven’t done much else besides this film because they all truly have nice potential.
Bottom Line – Great romantic premise that feels even more realistic since it was done on a low budget style. The characters are interesting to watch and we learn so much about them due to the great dialogue. The ideas presented here are quite familiar to most people and they do a great job exploring why people seek love; for better and for worse. It’s too bad that most of these actors haven’t done much else, but each show how much potential they have here. Recommended!
