Brick Mansions (2014)

“Where I come from, cash rule everything around me. You heard that one, right? ” – Tremaine

Number of Times Seen – 1 (9 Aug 2017)

Brief Synopsis – An undercover Detroit detective must stop a gang lord from destroying parts of the city after hijacking a military convoy and stealing the weapons inside.

My Take on it – This film is truly a typical mediocre modern action film which is weak on plot yet heavy on action.

The dialogue is useless and uninteresting because we just want to watch things blow up instead.

They don’t even try to develop any of the characters well enough which makes us care even less as to what will happen to any of them along the way.

The plot moves along at a quick pace because it is so flimsy and meandering the whole way through.

The stakes of the plot seem to be quite low and that also helps make the story feel even more inconsequential.

Paul Walker is ok in the lead of this film but this is not even close to being one of his best or even memorable roles.

Bottom Line – Typical modern action thriller which features a really thin plot but heavy action scenes. None of the characters are developed or presented well enough that we could find a way to even want to like them. The dialogue is pretty meandering and doesn’t really add anything to the action of the story. Walker is ok here in the lead but this is far from being one of his best or even memorable films.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – During the opening chase scene when Lino runs into the kids bedroom you can see a poster that says Wu Tang. RZA who plays Tremaine is a member of the rap group Wu Tang Clan. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy
