Number of Times Seen – 1 (13 Aug 2017)
Brief Synopsis – After a group of treasure hunting divers come across a plane filled with drugs, they have to decide what is the best thing to do.
My Take on it – This is a film that I wasn’t expecting much from right from the start.
The premise seemed quite unoriginal, but it still looked like it might be a fun story to follow.
Thankfully, they do a lot of things right along the way to help keep things interesting for us all the way until the end.
The main character played by Paul Walker seems like a cross between a modern Indiana Jones and Dirk Pitt.
His goal is to find treasure for himself, but only if done properly and legally…. mostly.
The rest of the cast besides Walker is also quite good with Scott Caan, Jessica Alba, Ashley Scott and Josh Brolin all giving us interesting one dimensional characters that we don’t need to care about but all play their parts well.
The story stays focused on the dangers of modern piracy, treasure hunting and doesn’t want us to forget the added business of the drug trade.
Like I said earlier, there is nothing really new under the sun here, but they still keep things fun despite it being a bit better than average story.
Also liked the way they managed to get sharks into the plot over and over.
Bottom Line – Not a real original plot, but they do a lot of things right along the way. The cast is quite good and they help keep us focused on the story that deals with the dangers of modern day piracy along with the added effects of the drug business. Nothing in the plot is too surprising, but its still fun to watch despite it all being only slightly above average.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Jessica Alba was unhappy with the film, mostly because her character was rewritten during filming. Also scenes were shot with her stunt double in a bikini behind her back, forcing her to spend the majority of the movie without much clothes on. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
