“I don’t know anything about you except you abused me.” – Una
Number of Times Seen – 1 (15 Aug 2017)
Brief Synopsis – Years after being abandoned by his adult lover, a young girl tracks him down to try and understand why he left her.
My Take on it – This is a film that I came across by accident and only chose to watch it based on its two leads; Rooney Mara and Ben Mendelsohn.
The plot isn’t one that is easy to stomach, but they do a fine job exploring how certain events in one’s life could affect them later on when they are once again must revisit the same ideas.
Loved the way that they slowly unfolded the story to us in a way that we don’t actually know what to expect.
Amazing dialogue helps keep things gripping the whole time through.
Despite the premise being extremely dark, the story works really well especially due to the two leading actors.
Bottom Line – Very intense yet interesting idea that tries to show a harrowing event in a young life and the ripple effects that it had on her and her former lover. Mendelsohn and Mara are both superb here despite it being quite a dark premise.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – It is based on the play Blackbird by David Harrower. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy
