Number of Times Seen – 1 (3 Sep 2017)
Brief Synopsis – A soldier gets trapped in a minefield in Afghanistan and must try to find a way to survive.
My Take on it – This is a film that I had never heard of before until my good friend Darren of Movie Reviews 101 suggested it to me yesterday.
The premise itself is quite good and extremely clever and works almost through the entire film.
The story actually goes on a bit too much and had they trimmed a few of the scenes a bit and gotten rid of some of the repetition, I think it would have been even better.
Loved the way that even with a minimalist set and characters, they were able to bring us such a gripping and intimate story.
This helped make the viewer care even more about what would happen to the character as things moved along.
The story itself is extremely realistic and it’s really possible to believe that such a scenario could conceivably occur in the deserts of the Middle East.
The duo of directors/writers the “Fabio’s” have shown us a bit of what they have for us in their minds with a clever idea like this one and I’d be quite interested to see what they have in store for us in the future.
Bottom Line – Very clever premise that works most of the time. I think the film is a bit too long and repetitious at certain points. Had it been trimmed a bit, it would have been so much more enjoyable. The minimalist set and characters helps us understand the character’s plight even more and we care so much more about what will eventually happen to him. The story itself seems quite realistic and it’s conceivable that such a scenario could really occur. With ideas like this, it would be interesting to see what the director/writers have in store for us in the future. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Due to concerns about piracy, the original English-language version was unavailable in Italy until May 2017, after the film had been released in English-speaking markets. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy
