“Life’s simple, you make choices and you don’t look back.” – Han
Number of Times Seen – 1 (7 Sep 2017)
Brief Synopsis – A teenage driver is relocated to japan to look with his father after he is arrested for drag racing in the states.
My Take on it – This film is the one exception in my opinion that the stories get better as the franchise keeps churning out new stories.
This is by far the weakest and most boring film of the franchise.
None of the characters have a connection to the previous two films, but the fact that they were so enamored by the character of Han that they would develop his personality and expertise for future installments of the franchise makes it a bit interesting to watch.
This film is a great introduction for his character.
They do an amazing job once again presenting the racing and driving scenes in such a way that it’s all completely breath taking watching those scenes.
The plot tho is quite mediocre and when looking at the 8 movies on a whole, it isn’t hard to see this one as a small footnote along the way, but not something that really will impact the overall storyline.
Bottom Line – Worst of the films in the franchise. Does a great job of introducing us to the character of Han who’s personality and expertise is better developed in future installments. The driving scenes are quite cool to watch, but this films plot is pretty mediocre and remains a footnote in the overall story of this franchise.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – After poor test screenings, Universal Pictures asked Vin Diesel to make a cameo appearance to boost its box-office potential. Diesel agreed to appear if Universal would relinquish the rights to the “Riddick” franchise to him. Diesel was then able to make Riddick (2013) independently. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
