Brief Synopsis – After defeating his arch nemesis, an evil genius must try to find his place in the world.
My Take on it – I am so shocked that I had never seen or heard of this film before Connor suggested it.
I am a big superhero fan and the premise of what would Lex Luthor do if he ever defeated Superman is such an amazing idea to explore.
They do a wonderful job here showing us how things might play out in such a scenario.
The superhero cliches ad motifs all works so well in this environment.
The voice cast chosen for this film is amazing with Will Farrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt all seeming perfectly chosen for each of the four main roles.
I read that this film was originally intended as a live action film and on the one hand, I somewhat am saddened that such an idea never came to fruition, but on the other hand, I’m glad they stuck with the realm of animation because it allows them so much more freedom when trying to show such a premise.
The voice-over used thoughout the film helps move things along due to Farrell’s soothing yet slightly evil sounding voice.
Bottom Line – Great concept that works so well. As a fan of superhero stories, the idea is brilliant because what would Lex Luthor actually do if he ever defeated Superman? The voice cast is superb with Farrell, Fey, Hill and Pitt are perfectly chosen for their respective roles. It would have been cool to see this film as a live action as originally planned, but the animation helps them accomplish things that would have been much more difficult with live action. Recommended!
