Professor Marston and The Wonder Woman (2017)

“How are you going to learn anything at all about life if you refuse to live it? ” – Elizabeth

Number of Times Seen – 1 (24 Jan 2018)

Brief Synopsis – Biopic of the creator of the Wonder Woman comic who began his career as a psychology trying to create a lie detector.

My Take on it – Who isn’t interested in knowing how the comic book character of Wonder Woman came to be especially when the first live action movie about her was a huge hit this past summer?

The problem is that the story itself just isn’t as interesting as one would hope.

I enjoyed the way that some of Marston’s psychology research made it into the origins and usage of the character.

The choice to tell the story in flashback made sense but they jumped back and forth over the timeline too much and it was quite jarring watching it because it made things a bit more confusing and difficult to keep track of everything that was going on.

The performances here are all ok and I can’t say that any of them really stand out.

This movies drags on too much and there are lots of scenes that should have been cut down to make it flow much better.

I actually wonder how much of this is close to the truth of what really happened.

Bottom Line – Not as interesting as one would hope. The way that they chose to tell the story in flashback with frequent jumps back and forth thru the timeline is a bit jarring and it’s sometimes hard to keep track of it all. The performances are quite good but none of them stand out as amazing.  Drags on too much and I might have been better of it had been edited much better.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Often erroneously thought to be the inventor of the polygraph, better known as the lie-detector, William Moulton Marston was actually the inventor of the systolic blood pressure cuff, an important component of the polygraph. This misconception is reinforced by the biographical picture “Professor Marston and the Wonder Women.” The invention of the polygraph is more appropriately credited to John Augustus Larson. Rating – Razzie Worthy
