JFK: A President Betrayed (2013)

“Every man, woman and child lives under a nuclear sort of Damocles, hanging by the slenderest of threads, capable of being cut at any moment by action or miscalculation or by madness. The weapons of war must be abolished before they abolish us.” – JFK

Number of Times Seen – 1 (20 Feb 2018)

Brief Synopsis – Documentary that examines recently released documents that show how JFK was secretly in contact with the Russians in order to try and stop the Cold War.

My Take on it – I have always been a fan of JFK conspiracy theories and have seen more than a normal share of films that discuss those issues.

This is a fascinating documentary because it tries to show proof of things that have been suspected by so many; that JFK’s downfall was perpetrated by those close to him because of the way that he was dealing with the Cold War with the Russians.

He was apparently using back channels to try and find a peaceful solution but the Hawks close to him didn’t trust his ways of dealing with such issues and saw things from a very different perspective.

This film is filled with some astounding interviews with people who reveal so much to us about what was going on at that time.

As with all good conspiracy theories, we’ll never truly find out what really happened and the fine line between fact and fabrication is always there.

This is just another theory that comes across as being quite plausible, so who knows, maybe it is what truly transpired.

Bottom Line – Fascinating documentary that shows more proof of things that people suspected for so long; that JFK was striving for peace during the Cold War and that people in his administration were the ones who saw things differently.  Great interviews with some interesting people who reveal so much.  We’ll never really know what is fact or fiction, but this actually sounds somewhat plausible. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Uncovers new evidence that reveals how President John F. Kennedy boldly reversed deeply entrenched pro-war government policy to embark on secret back-channel peace efforts with Russian President Nikita Khrushchev, Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and other “enemies” of the United States. The film raises many questions as to whom his real enemies were. (From jfkapresidentbetrayed.org)

Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
