Number of Times Seen – 1 (18 Mar 2018)
Brief Synopsis – While trying to get away with a bank robbery, a man must find a way to free his brother who is being held by the police.
My Take on it – This is a film that I’ve only heard good things about over the last few months and was looking forward to finally seeing it.
I was drawn in right from the start and I loved the way that they do so many unique and unexpected things with the characters and situations they find themselves in along the way.
The plot itself stays fresh and thrilling the entire time and you never know what to expect next mainly due to the fact that the characters are intelligent in the way they plan things out.
I really liked the way that eventhough we know that the main character is not a good person, we constantly want to see him succeed in his noble endeavors relating to his brother.
His situation is not an easy one and he keeps trying to think of new solutions without losing hope while in this desperate situation.
I can’t wait to see what the Safdie Brothers have in store for us in the future because if the rest of their ideas are similar to what they do here, we have some really interesting things to look forward to in the future from them.
Bottom Line – Great film because it does so many unique and unexpected things along the way. The plot stays fresh and thrilling the whole way through. We understand the desperate situation that the character has gotten into and evnethough we know he isn’t a good person, we still want his to succeed in his noble endeavor of saving his brother. I can’t wait to see what else the Safdie Brothers have in store for us because if the rest of their ideas are like this there is a lot to look forward to. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Good Time is prison slang. It refers to a reduction in a prisoner’s sentence for good behavior. According to the directors, “the backstory is that Connie behaved well in prison, got released on his good time, and this is how he spends it. Buddy Duress’s character, Ray, as well. People refer to it in jail as their good time; even when they leave, there are such strict rules and opportunities to get caught up; you’re not having a good time when you’re on your good time. But it’s better than jail, that’s the one thing.” (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
