Number of Times Seen – at least 5 times (Cable in the 80’s and 19 Mar 2018)
Brief Synopsis – A bounty hunter travels to a quarantined planet in order to save 3 women from a ruthless dictator.
My Take on it – This is a film that I recall seeing numerous times on cable in the 80’s and I apparently enjoyed it.
Upon rewatching it, I can’t understand how that happened at all because this film is really terrible.
The story is weak, the characters are not likeable and most importantly, the cast have little to no chemistry with one another.
Peter Strauss and Molly Ringwald bicker at each other the whole time and we never can believe the scenario that we are given.
Michael Ironside is a terrible villain here and he doesn’t manage to accomplish much.
The special effects are really cheesy looking and it all seems so fake that you would think that people didn’t know at the time how to make a space film look realistic.
The script is horrendous and the dialogue is quite laughable.
I can understand how this kind of film can get cult status, but I believe that this is not a film worth watching at all.
Bottom Line – Really bad film that isn’t enjoyable at all. Strauss and Ringwald have no chemistry whatsoever and Ironside is a terrible villain. The effects are cheesy and look really fake. I can understand how this film could get cult status, but it really isn’t worth watching
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – When Wolff (Peter Strauss) kicks his ships communicator console after receiving the distress call message, you can clearly hear the beeps and whines of R2-D2. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
