Number of Times Seen – 1 (27 Mar 2018)
Brief Synopsis – Documentary that chronicles the life and work of Jane Goodall as she pioneered chimpanzee research in Darkest Africa.
My Take on it – This is a film that I heard about months ago when it was being touted as the surefire winner of the Oscar for Best Documentary.
Somehow, many people were shocked when it failed to even garner a nomination in the end.
This is an interesting film but it wasn’t as amazing as I had been led to believe.
This film does a really nice job though of giving us so much information about both the personal and professional life of one of the foremost animal researchers in the world.
This film utilizes found footage from the past 60 years along with recent interviews with Jane Goodall herself which shed so much light in all that she was able to accomplish over the decades.
I never really knew much about the specifics of her personal and professional life and this film gives us the ability to learn so much more about everything that she managed to fulfill over her long career.
We even get to “meet” and study some of her most famous chimpanzees.
Bottom Line – Such an interesting film that tells us so much about the life of one of the best animal researchers who ever lived. The interviews and found footage of Goodall and her work is pretty amazing to watch. Not being that familiar with the specifics of her research findings and her personal life, this was interesting to watch because I learned so much from watching this film. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – When asked if she believes in God, Goodall said in September 2010: “I don’t have any idea of who or what God is. But I do believe in some great spiritual power. I feel it particularly when I’m out in nature. It’s just something that’s bigger and stronger than what I am or what anybody is. I feel it. And it’s enough for me. (From Wikipedia)
Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
