This is my 3969th Review
Thanks to Connor of ConMan at the Movies for this recommendation.
Here are his thoughts on the film.
“You are not crazy, just stressed. All the great artists dream.” – Max
Number of Times Seen – 1 (13 Apr 2018)
Brief Synopsis – A teenager discovers that she has the power to rewind time and uses that in order to save the people she loves the most.
My Take on it – When Connor suggested I watch this film, I definitely balked a bit since I’m used to watching studio made films and have never been the biggest fan of films made by fans.
I guess it helped that I knew nothing about this film’s premise beforehand or how the story plays out in the video game.
The biggest problem here is getting used to the apparent low budget way that this film was made because it just doesn’t really make the cut as one would hope.
The premise is great and reminded me a bit of a TV show that I used to watch called Tru Calling where Eliza Dushku played a girl who worked in a morgue and got to relive every day in order to try and save that person’s life.
The acting is extremely wooden and I couldn’t believe any of the characters as presented.
They do manage to use the low budget to their advantage in a few aspects and I liked the way they presented the effect of time travel itself.
Having never seen, played or even heard of the game this film was based on, it was quite refreshing watching this plot play out even if it ultimately feels too amateurish.
I wonder if this film had been made by a studio whether it would have worked much better.
Bottom Line – Great premise but it’s not easy watching this since the low budget aspect of it doesn’t work as well as one could hope. The acting is pretty wooden but I guess that could be expected. I really liked the way that they use the low budget aspect to their advantage especially when it comes to the way to do special effects. Having never played the video game (or even heard of it for that matter), it was nice to see a refreshing time travel idea played out even if ultimately it felt TOO amateurish. If this had been a “regular” studio film, it probably would have worked much better.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Based on the video game Life is Strange. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
