Brief Synopsis – As a retiring professor attends a going away party with some of his colleagues , the conversation touches upon philosophical and concrete discussions about life.
My Take on it – This is a film that I saw not long after it came out and it has left a strong impression on me every since.
They do an amazing job here and are able to give us numerous characters that are able to have a meaningful discussion that can last nearly 90 minutes without it getting monotonous or boring at all.
This is a very dialogue heavy script and it plays out like a theatrical production.
This actually helps develop the characters even more and makes the story feels even more realistic because it all flows so well.
Each of the characters are anchored really well and have differing opinions which also helps keep things very interesting the whole time.
The ideas debated here are quite enjoyable to watch because they lead to so many other great ideas as it all moves along.
The cast is great and most of them are recognizable which adds to the familiarity of it all.
Bottom Line – Such an amazing film because it is able to give us numerous characters who can basically have a long, meaningful and interesting conversation for nearly 90 minutes without things getting bored in the least. This plays out like a theatrical production and is dialogue heavy which helps develop the characters and anchor their opinions as the debates wage on. This film brings up so many great ideas that come across as realistic and genuine. Highly Recommended!
