Number of Times Seen – 1 (25 Apr 2018)
Brief Synopsis – A wanna be police officer working as a security guard contemplates robbing his employers of millions of dollars.
My Take on it – AS a fan of heist films, I was looking forward to seeing what this film was all about.
The fact that it is based on a true heist made it even more intriguing to watch despite the fact that it’s hard to believe that this story really played out the way it was shown and they must have taken a lot of liberty with the events portrayed here.
The cats is ok in general; Liam Hemsworth is fine in the lead role but Dwayne Johnson plays his role TOO over the top (if that’s even possible for him).
The character’s backgrounds are developed superficially yet well enough to establish the how and why they have reached these ind of dark places in life.
The best character in the film is played by Michael Rispoli and he really helps as much as he can to make the film even better.
The tone and pacing of the film is great and works quite well in a way that adds to the suspense of whether they will succeed in the heist or not.
Loved the added touch of using real news reports from the real event in order to ground in the fact that this is based on a true story.
Bottom Line – Fun film that is a big too hard to believe that it really happened like this. Hemsworth is fine here, but Johnson feels too over the top (even for him). The best character is played by Rispoli. The tone and pacing of the film works really well and that adds to the suspense of the storyline. The added use of real news reports from the 80’s helps keep things in perspective. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Dwayne Johnson plays a character named James Ransome, a name similar to real-life actor James Ransone who also appears in this movie. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
