Made (2001)

“Yeah, that’s my per diem, and who do I give it to? ” – Ricky Slade

Number of Times Seen – 1 (5 May 2018)

Brief Synopsis – Two boxers working for a mobster get in over their heads in a money laundering scheme.

My Take on it – This is a film that I had hoped would be quite interesting based on the fact that Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn were great together in Swingers (1996)

This film lacks that kind of chemistry between the two and that largely has to do with the fact that the characters they play here are not as likeable as the ones in Swingers (1996).

Both of these actors are quite talented, but one wouldn’t know it by watching this film.

The dialogue is terrible and makes us hate the characters more and more whenever they decide to open their mouths.

Both pf them are not very likeable which makes the viewer care even less about what happens to them along the way.

This story line is neither interesting nor funny which also hurts the chances of it being entertaining in the least.

It’s really unfortunate that the chemistry that these two actors have is totally lost here and what could potentially have been another great teaming of them falls completely flat because none of it works at all.

I wanted both of these characters to be killed in the film because they were just getting more and more annoying as things move along at a super slow pace.

Quite a pity….

Bottom Line – Terrible film that doesn’t help show the true talent of both Favreau and Vaughn. Their characters are poorly drawn and neither of them is very likeable which makes it harder to care about what happens to them. The dialogue doesn’t work well and instead of making things more interesting or even funny, things just get sadder and sadder every time these characters open their mouths.  The chemistry that the two of them had in Swingers (1996) is unrecognizable which is quite sad since they have great potential together.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The license plate of Jimmy’s Limo reads “DBLDN11.” This is a reference to a blackjack strategy articulated in Swingers (1996) that one should always double down on an 11 (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
