4200th Review!! 7 Days in Entebbe (2018)

“Whatever happens, we did the right thing. ” – Shimon Peres

Number of Times Seen – 1 (17 Jun 2018)

Brief Synopsis – After a plane is hijacked enroute from Athens to Paris, the decision must be made as to whether to concede to the terrorist demands or find a way to rescue the hostages.

My Take on it – This is by far the worst depiction of the events of the 4 films since it attempts to use a revisionist history while trying to present the terrorists as not being so bad since they are Freedom Fighters.

This film also changes the stances of certain political figures involved in order to try and highlight others despite it being contrary to what really happened.

For some really strange reason, this film uses abstract dance scenes throughout that make little sense to the overall story and seem quite extraneous.

These scenes take away from the true impact of such a storyline and the fact that they intercut within the rescue scenes manages to take so much away from the impact of those scenes.

It’s quite hard to ignore the fact that this version of the events feels as if it tries to do all it can to take away from the daring and uniqueness of such a unique and courageous rescue just for the sake of a skewed political perspective.

This is such a pity and proves once again the wastefullness of remakes.

Bottom Line – Terrible depiction of the events of the hijack and its aftermath because it tries to use revisionist views of the events while making excuses for the perpetrators to be seen in a better light. The use of the abstract dancing sequences are completely uncalled for and take away from the effect of the events especially the rescue itself. It seems as if this film purposely tries to undermine the daring aspects of the story due to skewed political views.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – A lot of the film was shot in Luqa, Malta, at the International airport. A day after filming wrapped In Malta, a real hijacked Libyan airplane landed very close to where the set was. The hijackers used replica hand grenades and pistols. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
