“You can’t stop being who you are because you’re afraid.” – Carrie
Number of Times Seen – 2 (31 Jul 2008 and 4 Jul 2018)
Brief Synopsis – Not long after the events of the TV show, the four best friends reunite for one of their weddings.
My Take on it – When Steve announced this blogathon, the first group of 4 female protagonists that came to mind were the four women in the TV show Sex and the City.
I was always a fan of the show and enjoyed every episode because of their frank talk about life of singles in the modern world.
This movie continues the adventures of the four women portrayed in the show and once again shows us how four women with diverse personalities could remain such close friends due to their very strong bond over the years.
I’m quite happy that they managed to get all four of the female stars of the show to reprise their roles in the film and also managed to bring back many of the supporting characters to transport us back into the world of these characters.
They manage to keep the tone of this film on the same level as they did with the show which is great because they never shy away from telling things as they are while also keeping things entertaining the whole way through.
Loved the soundtrack of this film and I especially enjoyed the Auld Lang Syne played over the Holiday montage scene.

Bottom Line – Great continuation of the TV show that is able to get right back into the swing of things and show once again why these four women remain the closest of friends through the thick and thin of life’s adventures. The tone of the film stays on the same level as the TV show and doesn’t shy away from telling things as they are while keeping things entertaining the entire time. The cast is superb and I’m glad that they were able to get all of the principal actresses and actors from the show to reprise their roles. Great soundtrack! Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – “Love Letters of Great Men”, which Carrie borrows from the library, did not exist at the time of the film’s release. Demands from fans wishing to purchase the book, led to many editions of a “Love Letters of Great Men” book being published, such as those by Ursula Doyle and Becon Hill. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)

Nice write-up! I never cared for the show, but my wife and daughter ate it up, so I’d say you captured its appeal very well!

If a revival movie can work the magic of the original series for fans then that is a success I applaud. I only hope that the shows I watch will be as lucky in such endeavors.
