Number of Times Seen – 1 (9 Jul 2018)
Brief Synopsis – Not long after D-Day, a group of American soldiers and nurses who are caught behind enemy lines must find a way to get back to friendly territory as they are pursued by the Germans.
My Take on it – This is a film that I don’t even recall how I came across it, but the premise actually sounded a bit intriguing, so I decided to give it a shot.
Boy was this film bad.
It doesn’t manage to work on any level and comes across as being quite silly instead.
The story itself isn’t presented in a realistic and plausible fashion and most of the characters are played by actors who portray them as being very over the top instead of straightforward.
I have always been a fan of Brett Cullen ever since I saw his amazing portrayal of Dave Scott in the Miniseries – From the Earth to the Moon (1998) and I had some glimmer of hope that his presence here would somehow help and make things more palatable, but even he isn’t able to help at all.
The low budget production of this film causes it to rely on low budget special effects which also take away from the realistic feel of this kind of film which is quite a shame.
Ultimately, this is a film that looks so much more interesting in it’s trailer than it actually is when one takes the time to watch the full feature.
Bottom Line – Terrible film that doesn’t work on any level. The story doesn’t seem realistic at all and most of the characters are played very “over-the-top”. Hoped that the inclusion of Cullen would make this film more palatable, but even he can’t help this film be more interesting. The special effects are quite lame even for a low budget film. The premise itself seems much more interesting in the trailer then the way it is presented in the film itself.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Many of the American and German soldiers were portrayed by World War II reenactment groups, who provided their own uniforms and weaponry. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (2/10)
