“Look! We just want the money! You guys can walk away, we won’t kill you! ” – Jim
Number of Times Seen – 1 (12 Jul 2018)
Brief Synopsis – Two armored car drivers must try and keep 3 million dollars safe from thieves when the city they are driving through is flooded by excess and extreme rainfall.
My Take on it – This is a film that I heard about years ago and saw bits and pieces of over the years yet never had the chance to see the whole thing.
The fact that it has a great cast with Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman, Randy Quaid, Minnie Driver and Ed Asner was also a draw for me to finally see it.
This premise itself feels quite average but the way that the story is presented helps make it all feel even more fun because it manages to keep things intriguing and exciting the entire time despite the lack or real originality here.
This story is filled with some enjoyable twists and turns along the way that help keep things interesting and intriguing the whole time because you never really know what to expect around the corner.
Slater is great in the lead here and he once again shows how great an actor he can be in the role of the unlikely hero.
I liked the fact that this story uses the weather to its advantage and constantly raises the thrill level by making it rain more and more so that every one of the characters needs to not just deal with one another but also the fact that the weather keeps getting more and more severe as things move along.
Bottom Line – Fun film that has a pretty average premise yet manages to keep things interesting and exciting as things move along, The twists and turns along the way help keep things intriguing because you never really know what to expect at every turn. Great cast keep things enjoyable and Slater is always great in the unlikely hero role. The weather aspect of this film helps keep things thrilling throughout.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – At the time of filming, the movie had the largest painted scenic backdrop ever used in a film. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
