“Well if that’s it, we’ll meet next Thursday. Same Bat time. Same Bat Channel. ” – Cyborg
Number of Times Seen – 1 (29 Jul 2018)
Brief Synopsis – As Superman and the other members of the Justice League try to keep Earth safe, a new deadly threat called Doomsday arrives on the planet causing much destruction in his wake.
My Take on it – This is a film based on a comic from over twenty years ago that I loved.
I’m so glad that they finally made this and the added advantage of updating the story to modern times along with modern technology helps a lot.
Loved how they dealt with numerous personal issues of the characters throughout the story which helps give each character a deeper anchor in the storyline.
The voice cast is superbly chosen and I especially liked how they use some pretty famous voice actors for some of the lesser roles because it helps emphasize that there really are no supporting roles when dealing with members of the Justice League, since they all have equal standing along with diverse powers which allow them to work together when trying to stop a common foe who seems to be one of the fiercest ones that they have ever had to deal with.
I’m so glad that this film only deals with the first part of this overall story because it is then able to give us an ambiguous ending that leaves things open for them to continue the story in subsequent films.
Bottom Line – Really enjoyable adaptation of the comic since it updates the story to present time and also deals with numerous personal issues of the character. They leave the ending quite ambiguous which keeps things open for the next part of this story. Great voice cast all around helps reflect the importance of each member of the Justice League. We also get to see each of them wield their powers as they all try to stop Doomsday. Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In 1978’s Superman after the Helicopter save Superman catches Lois and says “I got you” Lois replies”But who’s got you”” in this version the same lines are spoken but the genders are swapped. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10)
