Number of Times Seen – 1 (13 Aug 2018)
Brief Synopsis – A group pf middle aged men continue to play the game of tag one month a year which requires them to put their lives on hold.
My Take on it – This film has a premise that seems so crazy yet when you realize that it’s based on truth, it changes everything and seems even more plausible since it has (and does) happen.
The concept is quite fun and I loved the way that we get to see how these characters are willing to live duel lives in order to find a way to recapture their youth one month a year no matter the cost to their current lives.
The bond between the characters seems quite believable and it makes us all wish we had such connections after so many years with the friends of our youth.
The cast is great and they help keep things so much fun largely due to the varying personalities that they all have which makes things seem so enjoyable during all the entertaining scenarios presented.
They do a great job with the throwback scenes that mimic scenes from numerous 80’s action films along the way which add another level to this whole film.
Bottom Line – Fun concept that seems a bit unbelievable that it’s based on a real events yet works quiet well. The idea that these characters have such a strong bond after so many years is great to watch as we see how they continue to lead separate lives 11 months a year yet revert to their old personas no matter what for one month. The cast is great and they do a really fun job of placing them in entertaining scenarios throughout the story. The 80’s throwback scenes are also quite enjoyable to watch. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The film was based on the true events of the lives of former high school classmates (Bill Akers, Patrick Schultheis, Sean Raftis and Mike Konesky). As teenagers during the 1980s, they would entertain themselves by playing the schoolyard game during breaks at Gonzaga Preparatory School in Spokane, Washington. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
