Number of Times Seen – 1 (14 Oct 2018)
Brief Synopsis – A hit man ready to retire must deal with a young and eager hit man who wants him out of the way.
My Take on it – This is a film that I never got around to seeing despite being a fan of Sylvester Stallone’s action films (especially during the 90’s).
This is such a fun film and I’m quite happy that I finally got to see it.
Stallone and Antonio Banderas are superb together and have great chemistry as adversaries.
The tension between the two of them works extremely well throughout.
This film is filled with great chase scenes and stunts that are quite thrilling to watch because they are created and presented so well.
The pacing of the action is nonstop and things move along quite quickly yet still remain focused throughout.
Julianne Moore is fine as the female lead who is being hunted by one of these men and protected by the other.
The technology presented in this film looks (and obviously is) quite dated since there have been so many advances in that field over the past twenty years.
By today’s standards they look ancient yet they still manage to work within the context and time frame of the film.
Bottom Line – Great film that is so much fun to watch. Stallone and Banderas are great as adversaries in this film and it’s easy to feel the tension between them the entire time. The stunts and chase scenes are done really well and keep things thrilling throughout. Moore is fine as a new target who must be protected by one while hunted by the other. The technology looks quite dated compared with today’s standards but still works well throughout. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Mel Gibson was initially interested in directing the film. He mentioned to his friend Richard Donner that it was a really great script. Then, when Gibson got heavily involved with Braveheart (1995), the project found its way to Donner. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
