Scream 3 (2000)

“Surprise. Surprise. Someone dies and Gale comes running. ” – Dewey

Number of Times Seen – Twice (13 Mar 2001 and 22 Oct 2018)

Brief Synopsis – A new killer appears when the newest Stab film is being filmed and the heroes of the previous films need to try and solve the question of who is the murderer

My Take on it – Once again, I decided to watch another film in this franchise in order to refresh my memory of the story lines despite the fact that I’m usually not the biggest fan of horror flicks.

What I have always enjoyed about this franchise is the fact that they actually use the idea of movie franchises and sequels as part of the plot which as a movie-lover is quite dear to my heart.

AS fun as this movie is, it just isn’t as good as the previous two films in franchise despite the fact that they do manage to keep the continuity aspects of it all quite interesting.

It nice to once again have most of the survivors return to a place where once again no one is truly safe while they try to figure out who is really behind the murders in all 3 films.

They do an excellent job once again bringing movie history, trivia and basics into the mix here especially with regard to how trilogies work with regard to the fact that the third chapter is always the game changer of them all.

The story as presented here unfortunately doesn’t move as fluidly as it probably should and that takes a bit away from the full enjoyment, but the whole thing still stays fun along the way.

Bottom Line – Not nearly as good as the previous two films but still manages to keep up with the continuity of it all.  Nice seeing the surviving characters return for more as they try and figure out what has been happening over the past few years. Love the way they openly discuss the idea of movie trilogies and how everything changes in the final act.  The story isn’t as fluid as the previous two films yet still stays enjoyable for what it is meant to do.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Wes Craven filmed three different endings and didn’t tell the cast which one he was going to use. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
