Number of Times Seen – At least twice (Cable in the 80’s and 27 Nov 2018)
Brief Synopsis – Freddy Krueger is back and he once again begins to terrorize kids in the neighborhood during their dreams.
My Take on it – This is a truly terrible sequel in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and doesn’t add anything at all to the premise presented in the previous film.
Nothing really works here and its a complete mess.
The scenes featuring Freddy aren’t scary at all and the storyline that they concoct here meanders along instead of feeling like something unique and original.
Instead of moving forward it feels as if the story is constantly marching in place.
Robert Englund is always great as the iconic child crazy killer Freddy Krueger because he is such a unique character, but besides seeing him as that character, he isn’t given much to work with.
This film is a complete waste of time because it also lacks any kind of real continuity with the previous film besides the title and the fact that the main character lives in the same house as the main character from the previous film.
Loved seeing Marshall Bell in a small role, but other than that, this is a film that can be easily skipped over without missing a beat.
Bottom Line – Terrible sequel that doesn’t work at all. The scenes with Freddy aren’t scary at all and the storyline meanders along way too much without doing anything besides walking in place. Englund is always great in the main role of Freddy because he is such an enjoyable and iconic character, but this film is a complete waste of time. The possession of the main teen is done very strangely and doesn’t work at all.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – New Line Cinema originally refused to give Robert Englund a pay raise, and an extra was cast as Freddy at the start of production. After two weeks of filming, Robert Shaye realized this was a terrible lapse in judgment, and met Englund’s demands. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
